About Me

I am currently a fourth-year doctoral student at Old Dominion University studying Writing/Rhetoric/Discourse Studies, and Technology/New Media. I also hold two MAs, from Georgia State University (English Literature) and Kennesaw State University (Professional Writing). Prior to pursuing my graduate education, I worked in game/book publishing, web content development, and corporate communications. My research interests include first-year composition pedagogy, professional/technical writing pedagogy, teaching English to speakers of other languages, game design and development, and popular culture studies. I have seven years of college-level teaching experience at a range of colleges and universities, including for-profit universities, community colleges, and an art and design university. I am currently working as the Academic Services Coordinator for an art and design university, supervising both the Tutoring Center and the Writers’ Studio. Following the completion of my coursework, I look forward to finding a position where I can utilize my professional writing, teaching, and administrative experience to help students to become more effective communicators, thinkers, and writers.

In addition to my professional and scholastic activities, I’m also active in several pop culture fandoms, including my Marvel Cinematic Universe podcast, Earth Station MCU, and conventions including DragonCon, WHOlanta, Monsterama, and ConKasterborous. Favorite fandoms include Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul, Doctor Who, tabletop and live-action roleplaying games, Game of Thrones, Helix, Penny Dreadful, and many more.
